This model has now been discontinued and replaced by the newer Alpine iLX-W670-M.

The Alpine iLX-W650 featured a swipe-control interface designed for easy operation while driving. A two-finger swipe motion moving up, down, left, or right could control volume up, volume down, track skip forward, or track skip back.
The swipe gesture could be performed anywhere on the touchscreen, so drivers did not need to touch a specific on-screen button to make quick adjustments.

The iLX-W650 included wired Android Auto compatibility. When connected with a compatible Android phone, Android Auto allowed drivers to use Google Assistant, compatible navigation apps, music apps, voice commands, and hands-free messaging through the Alpine touchscreen.

The Alpine iLX-W650 worked with Apple CarPlay, allowing compatible iPhone users to make and receive calls, access text messages, play music, and get directions through the Alpine touchscreen.
Apple CarPlay could be controlled through the capacitive touchscreen or by using Siri voice control with a compatible connected iPhone.
The newer Alpine iLX-W670-M is the recommended replacement for the discontinued iLX-W650. It keeps the spirit of Alpine’s shallow-chassis touchscreen receivers while adding newer features, updated sound controls, PowerStack capability, and iDatalink Maestro compatibility for enhanced factory vehicle integration on supported vehicles.
When installed with the proper iDatalink Maestro interface, the iLX-W670-M may allow retention or display of select factory vehicle features depending on the vehicle, including steering wheel controls, factory amplifier integration, vehicle information, parking sensor information, and other supported functions.
